NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FOR DANCE ARTS
Mission
To recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance.
How Can I Be Eligible?
Must have a 3.0 GPA
Demonstrate collaborative teamwork, motivation, and participation in the many aspects of dance (e.g., choreography, performance, teaching, production)
Must earn 30 points, with most work coming from OHS dance activities.
How are points calculated?
Points are added after a point sheet has been filled out and turned in every 9 weeks. Under each category, there is a range of points you may earn. The highest number is the most you can get for that category.
When do we meet?
1st Thursdays at 2:20pm

Olympia HS Dance Program Points

Criteria: Members in grades 9-12 must achieve 30 points in order to maintain eligibility. Any combination of points can be used, but you must have at least 20 points directly related to dance activities through the Olympia High School Dance program and at least 10 points in other categories. Members are responsible for tracking their own points using the NHSDA Tracking Sheet and will be expected to show proof of points achieved by due dates. Master class
Perform in OHS dance production
Attend a live dance and write a review ( 1 page minimum)
Choreograph a piece ( 2 min)
Set choreographic piece on others and bring it to production value
Community & Leadership
Volunteer for a community service event
Leadership committee
Costume or studio donation ( costumes, tape, concessions, etc.)
Academic Achievement
Receive an award at UHS
Maintain GPA higher than 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
Write a historical paper on a dance related topic
