Our Classes

  • Periods 4 & 5

    This is an entry level course designed for students with no prior experience to dance instruction.

    This course will allow students to learn the fundamental skills of dance technique while improving poise, self-confidence, and creative ability.

    Students will also choreograph and perform in school productions.

  • Period 1

    This is the next level course designed for students with some prior experience to dance instruction.

    This course will allow students to advance the fundamental skills of dance technique while improving poise, self-confidence, and creative ability.

    Students will also choreograph and perform in school productions. 

  • Period 2

    Is another intermediate level course designed for students who have prior experience to dance instruction.

    Students will learn and progress in various dance techniques and study their historical, cultural, and aesthetic values of performance.

    These students will also choreograph and perform in school productions. 

  • Period 3

    This is our beginner company class and this course is designed for dancers who are ready to strengthen their technical foundation and prepare for advancement within the dance program.

    Students will develop essential dance skills, technique, performance quality, and artistry through focused training in a supportive environment.

    This course serves as a pathway for dancers working toward earning a place in the Dance Company.

  • Period 6

    This is an audition based course that has an emphasis on hip-hop, pom, and jazz techniques. Students will develop their skills through rigorous training, focusing on choreography, rhythm, and performance quality.

    These performers participate in all home football games, pep rallies, dance concerts, and additional outside performance opportunities.

  • Period 7

    Dance Company is the highest-level dance course in the program and is by invitation from the director only. This course is designed for dedicated and advanced dancers committed to excellence in both technique and performance.

    Students receive training in ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, and improvisation while refining their artistry, versatility, and technical proficiency.

    The Olympia HS Dance Company performances include All County Auditions, DPA County (Orange County Dance Performance Assessments), OCPS Dance Gala, Guest Residency Concerts, Orlando Ballet’s RISE Symposium Concert, Regional/National High School Dance Festival, OHS PRISM Concert, and OHS Dance Performances.

Department Fees

    $60 Dollar Class Fee

    Class fees go towards company t-shirt and production costs (lighting, sound, video, costumes, etc.)

    $100 Dollar Class Fee

    Company class fees go towards choreography, residency fees, event fees, registration fees, and production costs (lighting, sound, video, costumes, etc.)

    Team fees go towards uniform rental, guest choreographers, jacket, sweatpants, and more

Required Dance Attire

All students are required to dress out in order to receive daily class points

Black leggings, athletic pants, shorts with black tights, or biker shorts.

Black fitted shirt or t shirt, leotard, or appropriate tank top.

Dance team:

Rehearsal attire on Wednesdays

Dance Company:

Ballet & Modern

Any color Leotard, pink OR flesh-colored tights for ballet; black tights for modern. 

Hair: Should be pulled back and out of face.

Shoes: Jazz shoes, ballet slippers, any dance shoe appropriate for dance styles performed.

Performance Attire

All students are given a company t-shirt they can wear in class. It is expected to wear this shirt or any other branded apparel on performance days.

  All Classes:

Costumes are provided, hair is slick back bun. Shoes and tights must be purchased individually.

Titanettes:

Uniform, white shoes, white socks, poms, hair is dancer’s choice.

Dance Team

Uniform, white shoes, white socks, low ponytail.
